Create React App (CRA) Is Officially Deprecated

As of February 14, 2025, creating new apps with Create React App (CRA) has been officially deprecated.
There had been earlier proposals to bring modern frameworks and build tools into CRA, but the CRA team said it would keep CRA as a minimal tool for starting a React app and recommended using separate modern tools when needed.
This time, however, they officially decided to deprecate it altogether.
So CRA is no longer a good fit for new projects, and we recommend building with other frameworks such as Next.js or React Router, or with modern build tools.

When it was released in 2016, CRA was a great way to start a React project easily while still meeting production requirements.
Today, however, there is much less need for CRA, because of its limits in building high-performance production apps, the lack of active maintainers, and the fact that other frameworks such as Next.js and React Router have already solved many of CRA's problems.

So CRA now moves into maintenance mode. A version that supports React 19 has been released, but new installs show a warning message that discourages you from using it.

create-react-app is deprecated.

From now on, it is recommended to build new apps with frameworks such as Next.js, React Router, or Expo, and to migrate existing apps to a framework or switch to a modern build tool such as Vite.
